We’re delighted to announce the successful installation of our brand-new commercial fishing pontoon, made possible through Welsh Government grant funding aimed at supporting our marine, fisheries and aquaculture sectors in Wales.
The new pontoon has been designed specifically with the needs of commercial fishermen in mind. This investment will help ensure our harbour continues to meet the practical needs of the working fishing boats while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
The project was delivered with Welsh Government grant funding aimed at fostering sustainable growth, supporting coastal communities and enhancing the sector’s resilience and efficiency. By improving access to modern infrastructure, the new pontoon will help local fishermen operate more efficiently and safely while supporting the long-term viability of the industry.
Installation was completed following careful planning to minimise disruption to harbour users and ensure the structure meets the operational demands of commercial vessels. The pontoon is now fully operational and available for use by the commercial fishing boats.
This new infrastructure replaced very old pontoons which had never been puprose built with fishing in mind having been repurposed from elsewhere. This project represents an important step forward in maintaining a harbour that works for the fishing community. We’d like to thank everyone involved in securing the funding, planning the project, and delivering the installation.
We look forward to seeing the pontoon in use and to continuing to invest in infrastructure that supports our working harbour and the livelihoods it sustains.
